These are intelligent and easy to train dogs that were used mainly as working dogs. It is unfair, however, to say that every dog of this breed may be taught all the things these dogs had to do. There is a narrow specialization and they are good at some particular work. Do not judge Airedale pups by photos, yet ask for a photo of the sire if you have not seen the dog.
