The breed was recognized by the Austrian Kennel Club on the 16th of October in 1928. It was also called Österreichischer Kynologenverband Pincher. In the year 2000, the breed was renamed Österreichischer Pinscher (Austrian Pinscher). This dog is fearless against predators, enthusiastically goes to ground, and is an alert, noisy alarm dog.
