Beagle English

The beagle, English by origin, is agile and amiable; view a picture gallery during the kennel visit. Nowadays, they can be used in hunting, bomb and narcotics detection, conformation, and as pets. They are friendly and playful and tend to have boundless energy, so the breed is for active people. They need a lot of exercise and prefer training to be variable. Like all hounds, these dogs are somewhat more challenging to train. This breed responds well to positive motivation and hates drill. Some dogs of this breed take up to a year to be fully house-trained, and there are the odd few that are never completely reliable. Obedience training takes about two years or daily consistent exercises. The beagle, English by origin, is agile and amiable; view a picture gallery during the kennel visit. The breed we know today was developed in Great Britain where it was used for hunting the hare, pheasant, and quail. The precise breed origin is vague, but similar-looking dogs are described in documents dating back to 400 B.C. The dogs excelled in hunting in pairs, packs, and alone and earned the reputation of hard-working hunting companions. Once they appeared in the United States, they became very popular not only for hunting, but also as pets. The beagle, English by origin, is agile and amiable; view a picture gallery during the kennel visit.
