Beagle Characteristics -
dogs, rescue
The first records of this breed appeared as long ago as 400 BC. In the past, this small hound was used to hunt rabbits and hares. Nowadays, it is still used according to its primary purpose. The dogs’ miniature size and tracking ability allow hunters to follow them on foot. The breed owes its ancestry to the Foxhound, the small bloodhound, and the Harrier. These dogs are solid and well built. They belong to one of the smallest breeds of the hunting hounds. They are compact and athletic. Their short coats are easy to groom. Only after having learnt the beagle characteristics can one adopt dogs at a rescue.
