this breed is very ancient, dating back to 40 B.C. these dogs came to England with Romans around 200 B.C. The name of the breed came from the Celtic word “beag,” which means small. There is another theory of the word’s origin. It could have stemmed from the French word “begle” that stands for “of little value.” In appearance, these scenting hounds resemble foxhounds in miniature. The original purpose of the breed is hunting hare, rabbits, pheasant and quail following the prey by scent.

Beagle Colorado Rescue -
breeders, pictures
This is a non-profit, tax-exempt, tax-deductible organization, which is operated by volunteers dedicated to the welfare of the breed. Volunteers work hard to find new loving homes for the needy dogs. Any owner can surrender a dog, if some financial, personal or other problems arise. The dogs are spayed or neutered, and health and temperament tested. Abandoned dogs are usually kept in foster homes for rehabilitation and basic training. Foster owners know about the temperament of their dogs and can recommend effective methods of training for their future owners. Dogs with biting records and aggression problems cannot be surrendered.
