These are medium-sized, squarely built dogs. They have muscular bodies, strong limbs, and short, tight-fitting coat. They have a proud carriage. The breed was originally developed to serve as guard, working and companion dogs. This breed originated in Germany about a century ago. The true origin of the breed is uncertain, but it’s believed that it can be traced back to Brabanter Bullenbeisser used for hunting boar. This breed was crossed with the English Bulldog.
