They are very strong and robust. The dog’s coat is white with a well-defined mask. Sometimes the body has distinct markings of the same color as the mask. Ears are always dark. Tri-colors and solid white coats not preferred. Tip of the tail and feet must be white.

These are massive flock-guarding dogs that arrived on the Iberian Peninsula over 30 centuries ago. In the past, the dogs protected the flocks from wolves and bears and were highly esteemed.
