It is believed that the Bulldog originated in the British Isles. The name bull was applied to the breed because of the dogs use with bull baiting. The Bulldog is revered for its loving disposition and ability to get along with other dogs. This breed loves companionship, has a gentle personality and is very good with children and strangers. Some Bulldogs may be aggressive with strange dogs, but generally get along well with other pets.
