There are two types inside the breed. Thus the one was named after the person – Johnson - who did the breeding and had more than 30 dogs at a time at home. His dogs were strong, courageous and were used as companions and guards. The other type is called the 'Standard Type' or the Scott type (as it has been called up to 1997.) These dogs were bred by Alan Scott who aimed at producing a lighter and quicker dog. These types differ in temperament and physical standards.
