Cairn Terrier - Picture

The Cairn Terrier originated in Great Britain. It is assumed that they are a cross between the White Terrier and Black and Tan Terrier. This dog was known since the 1500's. The Cairn was named after the pile of stones that Scottish farmers used to mark their land borders and to mark graves. Being one of Scotland's first terriers, it is assumed that the Cairn contributed to the West Highland White and the Skye Terrier breeds.
