The dogs of this breed are rather healthy in spite of their small size. They live up to 14-17 years and remain active and lively. The peculiar feature of these dogs is that they have a soft spot on the top of the head called molera. Aztecs considered this molera to be a sign of purity and worshipped such dogs; today, some lay people and even vets consider it to be a sign of hydrocephalia. The only serious problem with these dogs is complicated labor and high level of puppy mortality. Learn more about chihuahua health and training needs before buying a dog.
