Long Haired Chihuahua
A long haired chihuahua may be obtained from a responsible kennel or from breed rescues.
These little dogs thrive on attention and enjoy human company very much. They are ideal lap animals suitable for an apartment lifestyle. The smallest of these dogs may be under 1 lbs and the largest up to 6 lbs. They are very sensitive to cold and hence are prone to respiratory diseases. They have a very fragile skeleton that makes them susceptible to traumas. Puppies have moleras that usually close by adulthood. However, in some dogs, moleras remain unclosed throughout lifetime. Dogs with unclosed moleras are at risk of head injuries.

There exist two types of this breed and the definition is based on the length of the dogs’ coats. It is a very ancient breed tracing back to the ninth century to the time of the Mayan tribes. It is the only natural toy breed. This is the smallest dog on earth, but it possesses a very vivacious temperament. These little creatures are extremely aggressive toward other dogs and are usually suspicious of strangers. They are very jealous and cannot stay without their loved ones for a long time.
