The Collie originated in Scotland and for many years was not known anywhere else. They were used as sheepdogs in the Scottish Lowlands. The Collie's name is assumed to have come from in the word "colley," which is what sheep with a black face and legs are called. The Collie is one of the most popular breeds due to their high level of intelligence have been used as rescues dogs, guard dogs, movie stars and guides for the blind.
