The Curly-Coated Retriever is believed to have originated from the English Water Spaniel, Retrieving Setter and possibly the Irish Water Spaniel. This breed is one of the oldest breeds classified as a retriever. They’re prized for instinctive field ability, courage and resolute perseverance. A correctly built and spirited Curly will work as long as there is work to be done, retrieving both fur and feather in the heaviest of cover and the iciest of waters.
