This breed is very rare, as it was developed in 1980’s. The aim of this new breed was to reduce the size of its ancestors and to eliminate some hereditary diseases they are prone to. These small dogs have all the features of a full-sized breed. However, this small variety of the breed is not recognized as purebred by the American Kennel Club. They are very popular for their looks, behavior, longevity and health. The breed is very easy to look after: the coat requires little grooming and bathing.
