English Bulldog Temperment

The english bulldog temperment is carefully evaluated in a rescue, even a puppy is evaluated. This amazing breed was developed through very selective breeding, and is a very recognizable one. Today these dogs make excellent family pets and are good at show rings. Notwithstanding the intimidating appearance, this breed is among the gentlest dog breeds. They are docile, friendly with children, peaceful, protective and faithful. Sometimes these dogs tend to dominate and may be stubborn due to improper training and lack of motivation. The specific features of these dogs are: very strong, undershot jaws, laid back nose, compact body, short, stocky legs, and a very high pain threshold. The breed was developed in Great Britain around the 13th century and has a Molossian ancestry. These dogs originated specially for bull baiting, so they were very fierce animals. Bull baiting was a cruel sport, in which the dog grabs the bull and brings it to the ground. When this sport was banned, the breed became useless and could disappear, but it was preserved and improved by the breed fanciers. The appearance remained the same, but the disposition changed greatly. The general appearance and attitude of the breed should suggest vigor, stability and great strength. The english bulldog temperment is carefully evaluated in a rescue, even a puppy is evaluated.
