English Setter - Picture
Sir Edward Laverack developed the English Setter from early French hunting dogs in the early 1800's. The word "setter" comes from the almost "sitting" position the dog displays when it has found game. The English Setter has many talents including hunting, tracking, retrieving, pointing, watch-dogging and agility. The English Setter’s personality and gentleness with children make them an excellent candidate for a family companion.
