Though very intelligent, they do not make good kennel dogs or backyard dogs because the resulting boredom can lead to destructive behavior. Be prepared to spend quality time with your dog each day playing and training. These are people oriented hounds that prefer to be close to their owners. Taking a dog you must remember that it is a great responsibility. If you can't give the dog the care and love it needs, the companionship it craves, or the training it deserves, it is suggested that you investigate other breeds that require less attention. When buying a german sheppard puppy, ask for photos of the breeding stock.
