Solid black or pepper and salt are the dog’s coat colors. A small white spot on the chest is permissible. Dogs measure 26-28 inches and bitches – 23-26 inches; the males weigh 60-80 pounds, while bitches weigh 55-75 pounds; the average lifespan of the dogs is about 12-15 years.

The deep-set eyes are dark brown. The coat of the breed is hard and wiry. It consists of a soft undercoat and a harsh outer coat; the hair on the top of the head is coarse.
