It’s very important for the dogs of this breed to live with the family and be regularly included in family activities. This breed makes excellent pets for active people who go in for sport and enjoy walking and jogging. These dogs are very people-oriented and cannot be left alone. They are a poor match for busy people who cannot devote much time to the pet. A dog chained in the backyard is very unhappy. Such dogs tend to develop behavior and health problems and become nervous, hyperactive, aggressive, and noisy. When bored they amuse themselves by barking and digging, and try to escape. Potomac Valley Golden Retriever Club has pictures and training tips.
