Everything in the conformation and personality of this breed is aimed at searching for the game. These hounds have a soft mouth, a good sense of smell, and are very active and curious. The demand for specialized hunting dogs emerged with gun invention at the end of the 19th century. This breed originated as a cross of several hunting breeds popular at that time. These hounds were able to find the downed game in the rough bushes, on cold water and on any possible terrain. Old hunting breeds, like Setters and Pointers were not successful in new methods of hunting. Find golden retriever clip art, dogs for sale, and books on training on the web.
