The Gordon Setter was originally developed in the 1600's in Scotland and was later made popular in the late 1700's by Duke Alexander IV of Gordon. This breed first started to hunt fowl almost 200 years ago. Compared to other hunting dogs the Gordon Setter is not as fast, however they have great stamina and the ability to work on land and water in unfavorable weather conditions. This breed is also adaptable to family life.
