Great Dane - Picture The Great Dane of today originated in Germany. There is also some evidence that similar dogs lived in ancient Rome and Greece. This breed is the second tallest of all the dog breeds, the Irish Wolfhound being the tallest of them all. The dog has an air of dignity and nobility but it also loves to romp and play.
