Icelandic Sheepdogs -
breeder, rescues
This canine arrived in Iceland with first Viking settlers (AD 874-930.) These animals have a very thick coat and sturdy body, and are well adapted to harsh Nordic climate. Most probably, the breed descended from the Norwegian Buhund brought by Scandinavian colonists. Icelandic sheepdogs from a reliable breeder are never surrendered to the rescues.
