Parson Jack Russell developed this breed from old wirehair terriers. He was hoping to create a breed that was able to force rabbit, fox, and boar to go to the ground. The Jack Russell Terrier is a small but very lively and loving terrier. The dog is very intelligent and enjoys playing games and likes toys. They can be somewhat difficult to train, as they are very determined and need a firm and experienced trainer.
