Karelian Bear Dog - Picture
The Karelian Bear Dog descended from an old Finnish breed that was crossed with an Utchak Sheepdog, by Russian breeders. This breed was named for the area in which it originated, which is Karelia, the territory from north of St. Petersburg to Finland. They have been used to hunt elk, bear and other large game. This breed is independent and somewhat anti-social.
