The Keeshond became the icon of the Patriot group in Holland previous to the French Revolution. Today this breed is the national dog of Holland (under the name German Wolfspitz). They attract attention for their silver and black shaded coat, and for its alert, intelligent expression, which is fox-like with "spectacle" markings around dark eyes. They have a friendly and gregarious personality and make good companions.
Also called Wolf Spitz and German Wolfspitz.
