The Cesky Fousek has a bristly coat with rough outer hair and with thick soft undercoat. It comes in liver or liver/white, with or without ticking. The breed was nearly lost during World War I, but in the 1930s the breed took its second wind. Now, they can be used as hunting companions and pets.

Cesky Fouseks originated in Czechoslovakia and were common in the area of Bohemia in the 19th century through World War I.
