Originating in the Himalayas of Tibet, the Lhasa Apso is a small, long-haired dog, well adapted to extremes of climate and altitude. The Lhasa Apso has been in Tibetan monasteries for 2000 years. They were regarded as good luck talismans that kept evil away and were never sold but given as gifts to those the lamas held in high esteem. This breed is esteemed as a companion and watchdog in many parts of the world.
