The Miniature Schnauzer originated in Germany and is a cross between the Standard Schnauzer, the Affenpinscher and reportedly the Poodle. The Miniature Schnauzer's name came from the German word for muzzle, "schnauze." Throughout history the Miniature Schnauzer has been know for its ability as a ratter, however more recently it has become a popular companion dog. The majority of Miniature Schnauzers make good family pets, enjoy playing with well-behaved children, and are great travel companions.
