Old English Sheepdog - Picture

The Old English Sheepdog’s origin is not clear, but it is believed that they were developed in the 19th century in the Southwestern Counties of England. This breed has been nicknamed the “Bobtail” because of its lack of a tail. It is believed that their tails were docked to demonstrate their exemption from taxes due to their working dog status. The breed was used as a driving dog and as a protector of flocks and families.

Also called Bobtail.
