The Alaskan Klee Kai is a new breed that was developed by Linda Spurlin starting in the mid 1970's. They are a smaller version of the Alaskan Husky. 1988 was the first year that the Spurlin's made the breed available to others. One of the most important trademarks of this breed is the distinctive facial mask, which should be clearly visible because of the contrasting colors.
