History states that Caesar originally brought the English Shepherd Dog to the British Isles in 55 BC when he invaded the area. This breed was used to herd the livestock brought for food for the troops. This breed accompanied some of the first settlers to America and today has continued to work on farms. These dogs have also begun to participate and succeed at some of the newer dog competitions.
