The Old Danish Pointer originated in Denmark as a retrieving dog. The breed was created in the early 1700s from a variety of farm bloodhounds, including the St.Hubert Hound and early dogs brought from Spain by gypsies. This breed is universal and can perform many tasks. Primarily it is used as a pointing and field retriever. Old Danish Pointer is said to be a quiet and friendly breed.
Also called Gammel Danske Honsehund.
