The Pharaoh Hound originated in ancient Egypt and some hypothesize that these are the oldest domesticated dogs in history. The Pharaoh Hound made its way to the Mediterranean islands of Malta and Gozo and has been there for over 2,000 years. It is the national dog of Malta and have primarily been breed for rabbit hunting.
