The Polski Owczarek Podhalanski originated in the mountainous region along the Czech-Polish border. This breed is an excellent protector of flocks. Calm, yet alert, the Polski Owczarek Podhalanski enjoys defending sheep from wolves, bears, and thieves. Today, many of these dogs are still used in the Tarta and Beskidy Mountains in Southern Poland.
