The Shikoku was bred in the remote mountainous villages of Japan. It is a hunting dog, specialized in deer, but also hunts wild boars. This breed is more somber than many and is extremely loyal to its owner. The Shikoku is brave and shows good judgment. They have a short outer coat with a thick undercoat that helps protect them.
