The exact origins of the Stabyhoun are unknown, but it is believed to be a cross between numerous European couching and setting dogs. The Stabyhoun has been present in Friesland, Holland since at least the 17th century. This docile, yet faithful breed is talented as a pointing and retrieving dog.
