Jonathan Plott developed the Plott Hound in the 1750’s in the mountains of North Carolina. This is the only known breed to have been developed in North Carolina and is the state dog. This breed is considered a legendary hunting dog, known for its courage and tenacity. It was initially used as a wild boar hound, but has also been used for big game hunting.
