The Pomeranian dog descended from the ancient Spitz breeds of the north that were transported to Europe and used to herd sheep. The breed became very popular in England when Queen Victoria started her own kennel and began showing the dogs. The Pomeranians of today have been bred down to their current size of 4-5 pounds. This dog makes a loving companion for almost any family.
