By the 7th week the dog has an adult brain, but no experience, its character is formed up to the 16th week. If the animal is not given proper socialization and training up to this time, it will not develop as an individual with characteristics typical for the breed.

The best age to get a dog is 7-9 weeks, during this time they learn canine socialization and dominance order from their mother and they will be easier to train. If weaned at 4 weeks and earlier, they become a training nightmare. A rhodesian ridgeback puppy will be selected as a puppy for it's show dog qualities by the breeder.
