Aggressive dogs are not available for adoption. Dogs with problematic behavior which are surrendered by their owners can find new owners only after rehabilitation, basic obedience training and socialization in foster families. If a dog is obtained from a broker or puppy mill, it can never be trusted, because little is known about its socialization and living conditions during the first few weeks of life. Such dogs may become aggressive, dominating and territorial. Only well-bred and socialized dogs given adequate basic training make loving pets and get along well with children.
