The dogs are 24 inches to 27 inches high and bitches are 22 inches to 25 inches high. You can easily tell a dog from a bitch by its appearance. The correct proportion is of primary importance, as long as size is within the standard's range. The length of the body is slightly longer than the height of the dog at the withers. Thus the most desirable proportion of the dog of the height to length is 9 to 10; the dog’s coat is neither coarse nor shelly. The coloring of the coat is black with brown markings.
