Shikoku Dogs
Purebred shikoku dogs are difficult to find in the rescues or buy from a kennel.
These are excellent pets that should not be exposed to strangers often. These hounds are about 17.5 to 22 inches and weigh between 40 and 60 pounds. The coat comes usually in the following colors: red or brindle and is coarse in texture.

The breed originated in Japan and was created to be a hunting breed. You need to pay much attention to these creatures, as they require a lot of exercising and training. There are three varieties of the Shikoku: the Awa, Hongawa, and Hata. Purebred shikoku dogs are difficult to find in the rescues or buy from a kennel.
