Standard Poodle - Picture
The Poodle’s name came from the German word “pudel,” which means "to splash in water." Dogs similar in type to today's Poodle can be seen in European paintings as early as the 15th century and were carved in Roman tombs as far back as 30 A.D. Today the Poodle is the national dog of France, the country that brought about international awareness of this breed. The Standard Poodle is the largest of the three varieties.
