This breed was bred in the Himalayas as a guard dog. The Tibetan Mastiff was primarily used to guard monasteries, villages, nomadic camps and livestock herds. This breed is able to adapt to a variety of situations and tasks. They are protective and devoted to their family. With proper socialization they make an excellent family dog.
