The Poodle’s name came from the German word “pudel,” which means "to splash in water." Dogs similar in type to today's Poodle can be seen in European paintings as early as the 15th century and were carved in Roman tombs as far back as 30 A.D. The Toy Poodle is the smallest of the Poodle varieties and they stand no taller than 10 inches at the shoulders. On average they weigh between 6-9 pounds.
