The Wire Haired Vizsla was bred in the 1930s by crossbreeding the German Wire Haired Pointer with the Short haired Vizsla. The Vizsla breed’s ancestry can be traced back to the 8th century, when its predecessors were popular among Magyar tribesmen.

There are two varieties of Vizslas: the Short Haired and the Hungarian Wire Haired Viszla dog. They are friendly, convivial and people-orientated and are intended for tracking, pointing and retrieving. The Wire Haired dog features a coarser coat, stronger body build, and shorter ears.
